The MP4-12C was McLaren’s first entry into the production car market since the legendary F1 two decades prior.  Aimed to take on the best of Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini, the MP4-12C was an instant success with its 600+ bhp turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. Exceptional balance and low weight combined with tarmac-twisting launch control allowed the 12C to run away from even the 911 Turbo S once past triple digits on the odometer. A funky infotainment system, teething issues with quality control, and a small dealer network made the foray back into production cars somewhat difficult for would-be owners. At nearly $300,000 however most owners could afford to spend the cash to overcome the inconveniences.
