Project Description

MODEL: 1986 Porsche 911 Factory Turbo Look Cabriolet
OWNER: Chris B.

DETAILS:

When Porsche stopped importing the 911 Turbo in 1979, a void needed filled and the Factory Turbo Look fit that description. By 1986 the Turbo was back on US soil, but the Turbo Look remained an (expensive) alternative to the normal 911 for those wanting all the upgrades of the Turbo without the maintenance of the turbocharged 3.3L engine. Because the 930 returned stateside by 1986, sales of the Turbo Look stagnated and its $10,000 premium over the standard 911 made it more sensible to spend a bit more for the Widowmaker.  Less than 2,000 were made with Cabriolets and Targas being the hardest to find. Porsche even built a few narrow-bodied Turbo Looks — needles in a haystack.
